Which Medicare Plan Did I Buy? And, The One You Should Sell!

Guess what? I turned 65 in June. I know, I know, I don’t look a day over 64 and I had to figure out how to sign up for Part B for Medicare (pretty easy) and get my Medicare plan as well.

A few of my Medicare fellow agents knew about my birthday coming up (social media) and they were curious about the plan I’m selecting knowing I’ve been selling Medicare plans since 1991. So, which one? An MAPD/HMO or a Medicare Supplement? The difference is of course that a Medicare Supplement allows me to go anywhere in the U.S. to see any Dr. that takes Medicare without anyone’s permission. An MAPD is very restrictive in Medical groups and hospital selection and choices may get even worse as the government continues to regulate.

So I picked a Medicare Supplement so I can go to a specialist ANYWHERE without a referral.

ALL your clients will want the same thing. I’m in great health today, but since we never know about FUTURE health, the last thing I want to worry about is the ongoing bureaucracy in preventing me from seeking the Doctors of my choice.

The carrier is United American and my premium is $30 per month with a $2500 deductible with Plan G, the best plan out there.  Why should you sell it? No certification or any testing each year. This is a wonderful way to re-visit your clients about saving them money and asking for referrals.   Whether they have a MAPD or a Medicare Supplement, you’ll save them money and grief every time you offer this to them. A wonderful conversation opener as well!

Do the math, it makes sense to know this. Please give me a call and I’ll get you started.  Simple, simple, simple.
