In Medicare sales, AEP (Annual Enrollment Period) is a period of time each year where Medicare recipients can change their Medical and Prescription plans from October 15th to December 7th.

This is an important time for seniors, because health conditions can change drastically in a year, and a different Medicare or drug plan may be needed. TWH is involved in AEP as well, but not only to help seniors enroll in the best possible plan.  We are also helping agents add Medicare to their list of client services, and helping Medicare agents expand to offer Annuities, Life, LTC, etc. to their Medicare clients.

As Greg has stated in his article (Greg's Hits - Dec. 2019), you don't want to be thought of as a "Redbox" by clients.

Redbox is the semi-convenient way to rent a DVD that does just one thing—rent DVDs. Most likely, the Redbox system will disappear soon, just like Blockbuster Video did. And maybe so will the typical insurance sales person who fails to expand outside of one expertise in meeting the many needs of their clients.

Time has proven that Annuities and other retirement protection solutions are often attractive to Medicare clients, just as clients over 64 who purchase Annuities are often in need of finding a Medicare plan, or Medicare-Supplement plan. We help in both scenarios.  Whatever your specialty, we can help you bring other insurance products to your clients.

Selling Medicare products not only gives you a very strong renewal commission (without a limited year ending cap), but introduces you to a person that is ripe for a retirement protection conversation.

You will also want to consider offering Medicare Supplements (PPOs), for 3 reasons: 1. A Medicare Supplements tend to be purchased by clients who are more affluent. 2. They don’t require ANY certification. 3. You can talk about them at any time, without a "permission slip" like is required for Medicare marketing and sales.
